This is the qns asked in the discussion forum in OLE. What I learned from the 2 qns is that it make me realise how Internet can help us and also using what kind of Internet resourses can help us find specific things.

1) Briefly explain how Internet has enriched your academic life. Illustrate your answer using at least ONE Internet resource you had learnt in UIR.

Internet has greatly enriched my academic life. As some of my subjects are either e-learning or problem-based learning. These subjects require me to use Internet such as Google & Yahoo to search for information or answers for my projects or self-learning. While search for information on internet, it really saves up a lot of time on going to library to research on the books. Sometimes even you found the book, it does not really have the information you want, or worse still the whole library does not have the book or information you want. Or you found the book but it is under referenceà means you are not allow to borrow out of the library, so you have to photocopy, what if the information in the book is a lot? I believe I will have to spend my whole day allowance in order to copy out the information. However with Internet, it not just save time, it also saves money. It is because you do not need to pay to view the information as well as you just have to key in the keyword.

An example of the search engine I used the most is Google.com. So I believe Internet has helped me a lot in understanding my subjects I took and taking now.

2) Comment on the need for "Advocacy" websites.

The meaning of “Advocacy”
Advocacy is speaking up for, or acting on behalf of, yourself or another person. It can enable people to take more responsibility and control for the decisions which affect their lives.

I think advocacy websites are needed to the world. It is because advocacy helps the people to make clear their own views and wishes, express and present their views effectively and faithfully, obtaining independent advice, as well as negotiate and resolve of conflicts. As not all will know what they want or speak up for themselves. This can helps people to make decisions independently and be more responsible of their own lives. This plays a part in learning from each other and has better communications.
